Senior Financial Analyst – MLH Controllers @ MetLife

Role Value Proposition:

This position is within the Controllers department supporting the MetLife Holdings (MLH) segment for Life products.  The position is responsible for recording, reconciling, and reporting financial information as well as developing and enhancing existing reporting, analysis, and controls for GAAP and STAT in an accurate and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations.
• Responsible for variance analysis of GAAP and STAT financial statements.
• Perform reconciliations of the ledger to admin data.
• Prepare financial reports to comply with outside regulatory agencies and to provide management with timely information.
• Supports internal and external audits and SOX team as required.
• Lead or participate in special projects as required.
• Initiate process opportunities and implement improved solutions.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

• 6+ years of experience in US GAAP Accounting – financial reporting and analysis.
• B.A./B.S. in Accounting/Finance or equivalent.
• Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting systems, analytical, interpersonal, communications, prioritization, and time management skills.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated strong analytical skills.
• Ability to work with associates at all levels, including senior management.
• Ability to produce results, manage projects, and carry out initiatives independently.
• Effective time management and prioritization.
• Ability to work within tight time constraints and multiple priorities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork, and collaboration.

Preferred:

• CPA, MBA, or CMA highly desired.
• Proficient in insurance accounting and US STAT.
• Knowledge of PeopleSoft and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM).
