Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer leave and disability programs.
  • Responds to leave and disability inquiries from managers and employees.
  • Works with carrier representatives in processing all leave requests.
  • Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA as they relate to leave of absence.
  • Resolve administrative problems with the carrier representatives.
  • Works with payroll administration to ensure employees paid appropriately while out on leave. 
  • Establish supportive relationships with occupational health clinics and 3rd party administrators.
  • Implements program goals and policies that have been established by the business.
  • Maintain compliance reporting calendars.
  • Work in coordination with Human Resources and Safety in matters concerning occupational health requirements, leave administration, return to work, ADA compliance, and DOT requirements.
  • Accurately record and report required testing.
  • Maintain the privacy of the employee and the confidentiality of the medical information received.
  • Accurately assess the need and initiate appropriate required diagnostic testing.
  • Ability to research and review regulatory information and standards to determine appropriate actions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED and two to three years of experience in employee benefits administration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources preferred.

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  • The Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Senior Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Lead Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 8+ years of relevant job related experience
