Job Description:

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, programming, and hardware support of Distributed Control Systems (Emerson DeltaV), Safety Shutdown Systems (Triconex) and various PLC applications.
  • Works closely with Operations providing support in Control Rooms.
  • Works in collaboration with other functions to design and implement systems /solutions to increase unit optimization, process safety, and reliability.
  • Updates procedures and system documentation.
  • Contributes technical and analytical insight to business planning and project development.
  • Ensure compliance requirements are satisfied safely and reliably.
  • Maintains system backup-media and contingency recovery procedures.
  • A member of rotating on-call support team for after-hours system issues.  Expect occasional 12-hour shift work as part of 24×7 support for unit startups, shutdowns, emergency callouts, etc.
  • Ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operations of the refinery’s process control systems and technology.
  • Rotational On-Call support required.
  • Domestic travel of up to 10% may be required.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. Computer Science, Engineering (Computer, Electrical, Chemical, Control, & Mechanical) or Information Technology related discipline is preferred. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education and training.

Preferred Qualifications:

Technical Criteria

  • Technical Acumen – Experience working with the DCS, PLC, SIS, Instruments and Analyzers in a complex process facility. In-depth knowledge of control system fundamentals including communications protocol (Hart, Modbus, OPC, DF1), design, configuration, support and programming of DeltaV distributed control systems (DCS). Working knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems (Triconex), including design, configuration, support, programming, system standards and testing protocol
  • Business Acumen –Knowledge of the refining process and the associated process units. Familiarity with the work process, roles & responsibilities and tools used to control and execute work in a refinery. Experience working with facility operations personnel, particularly console operators, is highly desirable.
  • Cybersecurity Knowledge – Working knowledge of Information Risk Management processes & tools and cybersecurity. Experience with common network architectures used in PCN environments, including the Purdue Model. Knowledge of software and hardware, networking, wireless instrumentation, and their controls systems application. Familiarity with PCN infrastructure.
