Job Description:

AREAS YOU WILL MANAGE:

  • Develop and lead the planning and execution of media strategies including a calendar of product reveals, auto shows, media drives and brand activations, social and digital content plans etc. to drive positive earned coverage and key message penetration for GM’s brands, vehicle and technologies. Ensure strong focus on key purchase consideration drivers.
  • Ensure the role of GM in Canada is woven into product and technology stories
  • Serve as a national spokesperson on product, brand and technology issues and topics. Host media at various PR events in Canada and U.S.
  • Expand relationships with Canadian Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and automotive, tech, social, lifestyle and multi-cultural media to expand audience reach and drive positive earned and paid coverage (digital, print, broadcast).
  • Lead GM Canada National press fleet strategy, including forecast and disposals, logistics, event support and utilization.
  • Use data and trend analytics to measure Product PR reach and effectiveness through consistent dashboards and benchmarking.
  • Develop written communications including briefing notes, press releases, speeches, key messages, and media statements.
  • Lead coordination with Canadian brand teams and global product communications teams to ensure strategic and integrated approach.
  • Manage Product Communications budget and PR agency support to assist Product PR strategic objectives including third-party advocate strategy.
  • Collaborate and support GM Canada Corporate narrative.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Ten years plus experience managing national earned media programs and developing strategic programs to generate positive earned media profile
  • Demonstrated knowledge and network in Canada’s automotive, lifestyle and technology media.
  • Strong product knowledge is a particular asset
  • Superior writing skills & effective storytelling capabilities.
  • Experience as a media spokesperson- bilingual is preferred, not a requirement
  • Exceptional organizational skills and strategic thinking
