PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists in the implementation of HR policies and procedures and their dissemination through employee handbooks, communications, and/or meetings. Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
• Responsible for maintaining data integrity of HRIS by initiating high volume of accurate transactions to initiate new hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, leaves of absence, etc.
• Works in coordination with corporate payroll partners to process and provide review of semi-monthly and bi-weekly payrolls.
• Monitors and tracks leaves of absence and return to work dates as they relate to FMLA, STD, state and local leave laws, as well as Company Parental Leave and Employee Attendance Program. Communicates with employees regarding their needs for leave and facilitates smooth and timely return to work.
• Recruits, interviews and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants; collaborates with hiring managers to understand skills and competencies required for open positions and edits job descriptions when needed. Oversees entire employment process through to onboarding, new hire orientation and benefits enrollment.
• Assist with facilitating and proctoring pre-employment written tests.
• Supports workforce with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, by responding to inquiries, resolving issues and approving all employee self-service transactions in HRIS.
• Manages Benefits Open Enrollment process: may conduct presentations at employee meetings, sets up individual appointments when needed, ensures all employees complete process in HRIS and performs timely follow-up on outstanding items.
• Reviews monthly insurance carrier invoices and facilitates timely premium payments in coordination with accounting and corporate benefits departments.
• Coordinates monthly payments of union dues and charitable contributions with accounting and corporate payroll departments.
• Updates monthly headcount report and organizational charts; ensures that approved headcount levels are maintained; and reconciles open positions to ensure accurate and consistent reporting in HRIS.
• Maintain union seniority list to capture new hires, terminations, job bid transfers and progressions through different job classifications.
• Provides support during annual United Way campaign by tracking employee contributions.
• Prepares variety of ad-hoc reports in support of organizational needs and performs periodic audits of HRIS data to ensure consistency and accuracy.
• Willingness to perform other duties as needed.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree required in Human Resources, Business Management or related field.
• Minimum of five years human resources professional level experience required.
• Minimum of two years benefits and payroll processing experience required.
• Experience in a union environment with shift work preferred.
• Must have working knowledge of HR Information Systems, experience with Workday a plus, and ability to learn new technical systems when necessary.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
