Generation Development Engineer/Analyst – Asset Execution (Birmingham) @ Southern

Job Description:


  • Assist asset execution project manager on all aspects of project execution including:
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Project budget forecasting and actuals reporting
  • Contract Management
  • Engineering design review
  • Construction monitoring
  • Performance of economic evaluations and profitability analysis using spreadsheets, production simulation software and financial models
  • Preparation and presentation of project status and results to all levels of enterprise-wide management and peer groups
  • Support development and implementation of appropriate solutions addressing project challenges through identification and response to all circumstances that affect the revenue requirements of the project.
  • These affects include changes to the project’s performance, cost or schedule encompassing the timeframe from project award through some defined period post commercial operation



  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, applied science, mathematics, accounting, economics or finance required
  • Advanced degree is desirable


  • Experience in the development and tracking of budgets and/or financial reporting
  • Experience in construction and/or contract management highly desired
  • Knowledge and experience in the development, implementation and operation of power generation and/or storage technologies highly desired

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated analytical, interpersonal, and creative problem-solving skills
  • Proven written and oral communication skills presenting complex information
  • Proficiency with standard analytical and business software such as Microsoft Office applications is required
  • Exhibits high proficiency in the development and delivery of information using PowerPoint and other visual messaging software
