Responsibilities May Include:
- Developing a comprehensive understanding of commodity trading, including key supply/demand regions, logistics assets, storage facilities, and financial instruments used in these markets.
- An understanding of key trading and development strategies is crucial for success.
- Communicating market fundamentals, trading strategies and other renewables information to Commercial leadership.
- Assisting in the evolution of a market plan that defines a profitable business model for new commodities in line with Commercial’s overall trading strategy.
- Understanding key trading positions of commodity trading to ensure all aspects of a trading position are understood.
- Development and maintenance of supply and demand models. This will involve working closely with trading to understand the market and trends, incorporate downtime, seasonal cycles, macroeconomic variables and utilize import/export data to ensure the models are accurate and accepted by trading. Identify market anomalies and communicate to trading on what physical market and forward market changes might occur.
- Providing market analytical support for Commercial by using supply and demand modeling and macro-economic data to develop a trading view of the market.
- Work with third party consultants and brokers to understand and evaluate their views on renewables markets and factor those into development and trading approaches
- Communicating external business intelligence and study results to assist traders and originators with successful implementation of tactics.
- Understanding and communicating geopolitical and regulatory events/factors which impact price movements.
- Leading information gathering process and development of presentation packages as needed.
- Sharing knowledge freely and improving peer group understanding of own niche markets.
- Leading ad-hoc projects and analysis around market fundamentals (including infrastructure changes) to support trade ideas.
Required Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- 2 or more years’ experience in the energy, agriculture or renewables industries.
- 2 or more years’ experience related to commodity markets.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, finance, economics, or related to agriculture.
- 4 or more years’ experience in the energy, agriculture or renewables industries.
- 2 or more years’ experience in both agriculture and renewable fuels.
- 2 or more years’ experience in a trading environment.
- 1 or more years’ experience with market analysis.
- Some experience with business development projects.
- Familiarity with environmental regulatory programs.
- Knowledge of Commercial trading businesses.
- Knowledge of global commodity trading.
- Refining/petrochemical knowledge.
- High degree of collaborative skills.
- Ability to develop, lead and actively participate on cross functional teams.
- Strong willingness and ability to support internal customers in business requirements.
- High degree of initiative, works proactively to anticipate needs.
- Excellent written and oral communication, inter-personal and presentation skills.
- High degree of collaborative skills; ability to develop, lead and actively participate on teams.
- Ability to manage conflict, influence others and persuade/facilitate resolution.
- Proficiency with statistical modeling software, database software, and economic modeling.
- Ability to code in Visual Basic.
- Proficient in SQL, Tableau, Python, and/or R.

- Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Capable of gaining consensus and trust across multiple functional areas within and external to Commercial to build a common vision and direction.
