Job Description:
Essential Responsibilities
- Working remotely, partner with commercial leads on global FRAND licensing of SEPs spanning various high tech standards, with opportunities to negotiate at the tableā
- Present and explain infringement of standard essential and other patents in various global jurisdictions, including by way of litigation-grade claim charts
- Secure and manage proper use of outside counsel and experts as required to complement internal activities
- Stay up-to-date with latest changes in US and global patent law, and educate the senior leadership team on how such changes impact current and future licensing activities
- Provide legal support for business development activities related to acquisitions of SEPs
- Provide other general legal advice and guidance as required
Basic Qualifications/Requirements
- Juris Doctor from an accredited school and membership in good standing in at least one state (or D.C.) bar.
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in a state or territory of the U.S.
- Registered with the USPTO
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical/software engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited school
- Minimum of seven years of patent prosecution, litigation, and/or licensing experience related to standard-essential patents
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 35%
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in electrical/software engineering or physics from an accredited school
- Experience on transaction teams as legal advisor on patents for complex and creative business models anchored in intellectual property.
- Experience in IP litigation, patent pool formation, patent prosecution, patent assertions, global technology transfers, IP acquisition and sale, IP portfolio strategy, and offensive and defensive IP strategy
- Working knowledge of patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret and other intellectual property law
- Experience in antitrust law, contract law, international law and international business transactions
