Caterpillar’s Product Support & Logistics Division currently has an opening for a Senior Director of Logistics Network Operations within Integrated Logistics.

This position leads global manufacturing logistics operations for all Caterpillar manufacturing businesses globally, providing manufacturing parts supply chain and distribution, site logistics, and international freight consolidation / deconsolidation services to all Caterpillar verticals (Construction Industries, Resource Industries, Energy & Transportation, and the Product Supply and Logistics Division).

This role leads a global team of 300 salaried and management professionals and 2000 hourly logistics associates in the United States, Mexico, Brazil, China, India, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Europe.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead and inspire highly effective teams to improve results, ensure compliance, and safely deliver business objectives using Lean principles.
  • Engage business partners upstream and downstream to develop trust-based relationships, resolve critical issues, create customer-serving solutions, and improve end-to-end supply chain visibility, efficiency, cost, availability, and sustainability.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives for supply / demand requirements and opportunities.
  • Design and deliver holistic and sustainable solutions for a complex network, optimizing the flow of material inbound to manufacturing from a global supply base, utilizing leading technologies and technology-enabled solutions.
  • Influence key stakeholders and cross-vertical organizations across the enterprise to arrive at optimal solutions aligned to overall business strategies.
  • Deliver day-to-day results (safety, quality, performance, and cost) for the global manufacturing logistics operations network.
  • Meet or exceed agreed upon key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial business plans.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher

    • Champions initiatives to incorporate lessons learned from evaluating results against requirements into future process cycles.
  • Logistics Management:
    • Leads development of criteria and standards for measuring, improving, and optimizing logistics.
    • Knowledge and application of Lean, 6 Sigma, or other Continuous Improvement methodologies.
    • Takes a strategic view of the business – volumes, forecasts, headwinds, opportunities – to drive decisions on strategic direction, network enhancements, and competitive changes.
    • Monitors industry trends and innovations to make recommendations for own organization.
  • Supply Chain Management :
    • Creates strategic plans for supply chains involving multiple suppliers, distribution centers, and channels.
    • Leads supply chain demand planning process and translates them to operational plans.
  • Inventory and Warehouse Management:
    • Knowledge of the policies, processes, and systems of warehouse management.
    • Manages multiple distribution logistics centers and complex, high-volume environments.
    • Establishes best practices in warehouse efficiency, including insights on layout and site selection.
    • Monitors industry and champions the use of technologies for innovations in inventory and warehouse management practices and tools.

What Will Put You Ahead:

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Transportation Management, Supply Chain, or Business Administration
  • APICS or SCPro certification

Additional Information:

  • This role requires the ability to travel up to 30% (both domestic and international)
