Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Provide consultation and project management for Chemical EOR, Tracer Development, IOR/PVT, Rock Mechanics & Physics, Core Analysis, Digital Solutions for Rock Properties, Fluid Geochemistry, Drilling Fluid & Cement Testing, and OE HSE Technical Lab Support.
  • Manage and maintain a comprehensive suite of analytical, interpretive and consultative services that support Chevron’s worldwide exploration and field development operations.  Provide expertise in upstream production uses of chemicals and related technologies for scale, corrosion, and heavy metal risks. Maintain laboratory and field-based technical support to Chevron assets in all CPDEP phases.
  • Provide technical support and consulting for the testing and interpretation of drilling fluid and cement products. OE/HES Technical Lab Support Team provides program management, leadership and technical guidance to the Upstream laboratories in their pursuit of incident and injury-free operation and technical excellence. They also partner with Upstream organizations through the Global Laboratory OE/HSE Technical User Group
  • The Engineering Scientist will be joining the Chemical EOR Lab Technology Team. This team supports technology development and expert consulting in all types of Chemical EOR laboratory R&D including surfactant synthesis, microemulsion phase behavior and optimization; polymer development, rheology measurement, mixing strategies; and instrumental methods of analysis of surfactants and tracers.
  • This position will be responsible for all aspects of chemical EOR research and development to develop differentiated chemistries that can capture reserves including conventional and unconventional heavy oil or tight rock assets.
  • This job requires extensive hands-on skillsets to allow for designing and conducting experiments to support new technology development for chemical EOR.

Required qualifications 

  • Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering or Chemical Engineering. Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in oil and gas or other related industry preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of surfactant phase behavior
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting corefloods
  • Demonstrated ability to build, maintain and develop novel lab setups to conduct chemical EOR screening and evaluation studies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography) and GC (Gas Chromatography) techniques to measure surfactant and co-solvent concentrations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of lab polymer chemistry for chemical EOR.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of chemical synthesis
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting rheological measurements of polymers and microemulsions.
